The Jetty... aka Crabbin!!

This weekend we went Crabbin... funnest thing EVER!!! I loved it! We went to a restaurant called The Jetty  which was on the water and ate Crab and danced to a mini concert!! It was a blast!!

The Jetty
Pure Enjoyment
yes the guy in the blue was VERY goodlooking... haha

Got Crabs?

Funny Story: So as we were dancing by the band... lets just preface this and say we were pretty much the only sober people there... and we all know how funny drunk people can be sometimes ( i am not promoting being drunk)! So anyways we were standing there and this older gentleman came up to me and started talking to me! Of course it was super loud in there so it wasn't like i could hear him very well so i just kept shaking my head and smiling at him. He was a cute old guy so of course i was being nice! I love old people!! Well the next thing i know he has me on the dance floor swing dancing!! Haha... so picture this mixture... Me and my awkwardness with swing dancing... an older gentleman who is a little tipsy and about 3 feet of moving room! It was great!! I was laughing so hard and trying my hardest to not look too much like fool!! It was a ball and now a great story!! Kel got a picture of us!! My face says it all!!

The Battle Of Gettysburg!!

Hey Friends!! So i have come to find how much i love history... especially the history of the United States! The great part is, i have been so blessed to actually see these places first hand and what an amazing experience it has been! Before, Gettysburg to me has always just been a famous name of what i guessed to be a huge famous battle! Little did i know what i was in for when we decided to go this last week! To prepare us we decided that we should watch the movie called 'Gettysburg' to get us to really understand what happened there. I totally recommend doing it this way because the movie changed the whole experience for me. It put emotion behind it and helped me to understand why the Civil War happened and who were the men that fought there were. I couldn't get enough, i fell in love with a huge part of history. Everyone should take the chance once in their life and go to Gettysburg! It's a beautiful sacred place and i am so grateful for those men that did fight valiantly to unify this country and the men that still are!

THE NORTH
General Meade-
The Grove of trees General Lee told his men to aim for
This is the North side, but if you look closely you can see the
South side (General Lee's Monument) across the field,  this is where
the 3rd day battle occurred where General Lee sent his men to attach the center
of the North's line, the North stood strong and General Lee lost all his men.

A cool thing that my Mom told me was that the only women to be killed in this battle was Jennie Wade. She was hit with a stray bullet in her house. My mothers maiden name is Wade. We're related! This is her little museum.

Where It All Began...

It's official we have gone and seen every Historical Church Site across the country!! What an amazing journey and experience! We may have done it backwards but i can't even tell you how much it has changed me to see the places that were the birth places of one of the most important things in my life. I am so grateful and blessed for such an opportunity! I never thought i would be able to, but it means so much to be able to share it with the people i love! We started our journey by stopping in the cutest little town called Cumberland (not related to the church) but it does have about 200 churches in it's little valley! It's so cute! The next day we headed to Kirtland, Ohio! What an amazing place! This is were the first LDS temple was built, known as the Kirtland Temple! Even though it is now owned by the Church Of Christ (something i struggled with a bit) it still is a very spiritual place. It was so awesome to tour it and to see the different rooms, where so many things happened and were established. We then went to the LDS visitor center (totally different feeling, my own doing though) and learned more about it and, saw the actual town of Kirtland. I left feeling so uplifted and happy! I will never forget the feelings i felt in Kirtland! The next day we traveled to the place were the church began... Palmyra! Cutest place ever, the town was great! We first explored the town of Palmyra and then headed to the Sacred Grove. This definitely was one of the greatest parts of this whole summer. The Grove is such a sacred place and to walk through it, was life changing. To know what has happened there and who has been there before was so surreal. It's beautiful! I just loved taking a moment and soaking it all in, i even took a leave to remember the experience. I love the feeling there! We also saw the Smith farm and all it entailed,  it was an amazing place to see! The Spirit was so strong there! That night we went to the Hill Cumorah Pageant! OH MY what a amazing thing that i think everyone needs to experience! The effects and characters make the stories come alive, it was sooo cool! So powerful! Lightening even started during it but it was crazy cause i swear it would be timed perfectly when something that needed emphasis happened! I loved it! I recommend everyone to go to a pageant! They are amazing! Plus as an extra bonus we got to see a few friends from back home too! The next day we went to the Palmyra Temple which is beautiful, the stain glass is of trees from the sacred grove! Then we hiked up to the Hill Cumorah, so cool to have stood where some many people have! This whole experience has been incredible, such a testimony builder! I am so blessed! Hope these pictures will give you a little taste!

Pocahontas, John Smith, and Wild Ponies!!

Last weekend we took a little trip down south to where it all began... to be exact where America began!! Cool right?? no it was like 102 degrees... haha!! It was way cool!! We first stopped in Williamsburg and hit Jamestown and Yorktown!! For those of you who don't know what that means here is a little history lesson, i may or may not have had to google it myself!! :) Jamestown is known as the first permanent place for settlers when they first came to America some 400 years ago! Pocahontas ring a bell? John Smith? Yup met them both! Yorktown is where the Battle Of Yorktown was held, revolutionary war anyone? It now is a big field, with a cute little beach town on the coast! Williamsburg is the big name for the area surrounding it! We stayed in a hotel in Newport News and then the next day headed back up north towards home! Along the way we stopped at Assateague Island, and Chincoteague Island!! They had a little resort town there with a huge beach on the coast!! These Islands are known for their wild horses that run free on them! We saw a few! Every year they have a 'Pony Swim' where they round up all the horses and lead them across the water to the auction place!! That probably doesn't really make sense but its cool, so trust me... or google it!! We missed it by only a couple weeks but they have awesome pictures of it everywhere!! We took the day then to just play on the beach, it was a BLAST!!!

Pocahontas... p.s. my hair is super long right?
John Smith
Battle Of Yorktown
This battle ended the Rev. War
The Assateague Monster and me of course!
She loves ruining...i mean taking pictures... can't you tell...

Guess whats coming up next week.... I'll give you three key words... Grove, Pageant, Falls!!

Happy Birthday America!!

Happy 4th Of July Friends!! This is going to be short and sweet so i don't overwhelm you of posts!! The family went out and celebrated on the Chesapeake Bay!! We went boating all day, had a delicious BBQ, and then watched fireworks out on the water... AMAZING!! Check that off my bucket list!! Enjoy!!

Concrete Jungle Where Dreams Are Made Of...

Day 2 Saturday:
Here come the biggest post EVER!!! That is probably because we did so many amazing things in one day!! We woke up and headed up to the north part of the island! The subway system is crazy, like another language! The cool thing though is our stop was Grand Central...which is something I've always wanted to see! It's just as awesome as i thought, too bad there was no flash mob that day!! We headed to Time square after that, and lets just say it puts the strip in Vegas to shame!! It's so colorful and there are people everywhere!! It was amazing!! One of these days i'm going to have to go see it in the dark!! On 6th avenue there were a bunch of vendors selling cheap stuff... it was so much fun to walk like 8 blocks and look at all the stuff! That was the perfect gateway into Central Park!! Who would of thought that New York had two different worlds in it. The city and then a huge park!! It was so fun to be so close to where so many movies have been filmed! Then we stopped for lunch right before our boat tour and got famous New York hot dogs!! We felt like locals... haha well sort of!! We then took a boat tour, which was INCREDIBLE!!! It was so much fun! It showed us the whole city of New York, the Brooklyn Bridge, Brooklyn, Staten Island, the Statue Of Liberty, Ellis Island and everything in between!! Such a blast! I totally recommend it!! We were pretty exhausted by then, and if you've been to New York you know how exhausting it can be walking everywhere so we headed to the hotel for a little rest! After our rest we headed to little Italy for dinner, we fell in love with that place and it's delicious food! Once it got dark we headed to the Empire State Building!! It took us about an hour to get up there, in which we met a really cute older couple from Utah which was way fun! It was so cool once we got up there, you could see the whole city!! Boy does it light up!! I loved it!! It's so romantic, i almost just found some random kid to kiss... haha just kidding! It wouldn't be the first time though!! haha! New York is truly a place where dreams come true!! This was such an amazing trip!! I'm definitely coming back someday!! There is just so much more to explore... so until then New York City!!
